Day in the life after a transplant
The days continue to march on, and all are running together. It is tough when you don't have stuff to do every day, and I lose track of the day of the week. Unfortunately, the TV is constantly on. I am on a Food Network kick. Thanks to on-demand TV, I can just select the Food Network show that I watch, like Guy's Grocery Games, Beat Bobby Flay, BBQ Brawl, Bobby Flay Triple Threat, etc. We play some games every day, like Yahtzee or Phase 10, to keep our minds busy. We also go to the park each day and let Sammie and her service dog Stitch, get some exercise. As long as there are not a lot of people, otherwise I could not go to the park. So this is the closest I can get to being out of quarantine.
Having been in the hospital for so long, I have lost the strength in my legs, so I have to do physical Therapy every day to try and get my strength back. It is not easy. Just standing up and down is hard. Hopefully, the exercises will help make it so I can walk without a cane.
I want to express my love for Sherrie. She is an amazing caregiver. She does so much every day, one major thing she does is manage my medication. I take 27 pills each morning, some in the middle of the day, and another 15 at night. Below is a picture of what Sherrie goes through once a week to do my meds.
Needless to say, she is amazing, especially when the Doctors are constantly changing my meds, and she somehow keeps track of it all.
We are still positive and excited about the chance that the transplant can be a cure for the cancer.
We also have a deep belief in the Savior Jesus Christ and is promise of eternal life as we repent and change to the better. "Please do not fear or delay repenting. Satan delights in your misery. Cut it short. Cast his influence out of your life! Start today to experience the joy of putting off the natural man. The Savior loves us always, but especially when we repent. He promised that though “the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed … my kindness shall not depart from thee.” (President Russel M. Nelson) May we always look to the Savior and his example.
