Another day another procedure

The second day of chemo has gone well, with no major side effects thus far. The most prominent challenge thus far is just the fatigue, which comes in waves from exhausted to non-functional, and even the simple task of writing this blog wears me out, but I want you all to be part of the experience. I will do my best but these posts may not be all that eloquent.

One treatment I must undergo requires a lumbar puncture where they still need into your spinal column to extract fluid for testing and then replace it with chemo. I tell you now don't sign up for these procedures for fun as they are far from, as any woman who has had an epidural can attest. The pain from the initial numbing is pretty intense but quickly passes. The needle prodding around to find the proper opening can cause zingers but the worst part for me was having to be folded into a pretzel while they did it all. After being in that position for fifteen and then finally finding it, I was in excruciating pain. It was then necessary for me to lay flat on my back for an hour which brought some relief but brought pain of its own. The sad part is I am either having one more this series or seven it just depends on the findings.

The next few days will be more chemo but over the next 14 days my immune system will tank and I will have to be very careful to avoid any kind of illness or infection. I will keep posting as go through this journey.

But like I always say "This too shall pass. Like a kidney stone but, it too shall pass!"
